Cyberhair® or Great Lengths Human Hair Extensions?

For those who care about the health of their hair, it's hands down Cyberhair®. However Cyberhair® is not for everybody. It's best for people who hardly use heated styling tools as Cyberhair® can frizz.

I am very thin on top. I do not want to wear a wig-like hair piece. I am contemplating...

trying the HairLocs minis or the tiny Great Lengths bonds. What's the difference between the two?

Well thank God, I can do both methods! My vote is not the HairLocs minis because it is highly visible. The "shell- metal- coil- tube" is covering your hair and the hair extension. The metal is crimp acting as a secure “metal bobby pin” and therefore slips out easily. Whereas the Great Lengths bond is made of a “glue” so you need not worry about losing any strands {if done properly and maintained well}. On the other hand, the Cyberhair starts off with a soft sterling silver bead covered with internal and external silicone. Then 100 nylon hairs are injected covering the entire bead. No metal is touching your own hair because the nylon hair and the silicone acts as a cushion. The silicone grips the natural hair acting as a rubber band rather than just metal. Finally, when your natural hair is pulled through the bead, the 100 Cyberhairs are flared out acting as a fan to cover the bead and blend with your natural hair, giving you the secure feeling of being blessed with naturally thick hair.

Can I buy Cyberhair® anywhere?

You have to go to a Cyberhair authorized salon. There are about 100 of us in the U.S. This hair is exclusive and patented. If you want your stylist to offer Cyberhair she or he has to be in a certain territory, meet a quota and go through a very restricted application process. Great Lengths and HairLocs/ EuroLocs are all over. HairLocs & EuroLocs certifies anybody, so you can be waitress and do HairLocs or EuroLocs- but not Great Lengths. Great Lengths has more strict criteria. You must be a licensed cosmetologist and you must not work in a chain salon. Great Lengths, like Cyberhair, are considered very exclusive TOP-OF-THE-LINE methods- expensive, the finest… the very best! Their hair is also very dependable. They are considered Grade A so you will always have the SAME EXACT quality hair each and every time. Great Lengths are strict when it comes to collecting and processing their hair. Sometimes I had to wait for an entire month just for a certain color. Cyberhair is man made and in each single strand of extension, there are really 100 hairs! Whereas "Locs, Shells, Coils, Tubes, Rings, Tubular"- are over-the-counter Grade B “shoelace” tipped hair that you can buy anywhere. If you want the best of the best, your budget must be in the four figure range and go to an exclusive certified Professional Salon.

Is Cyberhair® Thermofibre or Thermofiber hair?

Before you believe that comment, just ask yourself, "What is the source of this information?" These are two different kinds of fibre. Cyberhair is made with spun nylon. This new advancement was engineered by Aderans, the world’s largest manufacturer and retail chain of hair systems. In 1995, Cyberhair® made its debut in the United States after years of successful field testing in Japan and Europe. Cyberhair® is a new innovation developed with scientific technology. It has many desirable qualities including durability, uniformity, lightness of weight, softness, body and lift, and style memory retention. Cyberhair® is equal or superior to other fibers and human hair, while duplicating the texture of human hair to simulate your own. Currently other fibers used in hair systems have an unnatural cross section shape or a damaged surface from trying to achieve the correct light reflective properties. Most human hair used for hair systems has been chemically treated, resulting in weakened, poor hair quality. Nothing else on the market comes as close to the texture of your own hair as Cyberhair®. Cyberhair®’s unique quality of “style memory” actually makes it easier to style than your own hair. This built in memory allows you to do anything, even sauna without losing your original hairstyle. When Cyberhair® gets wet it reacts just like your own hair.

What types of hair extensions come in Cyberhair®?

There are 3 types of hair extensions that come in Cyberhair®:

  1. 2-4 hairs attached to a single growing hair- great for camouflaging diffused thinning hair.
  2. individual strands- great for lengthening and volumizing short, thin hair.
  3. skin wefts- great for volumzing fine hair.

Option 2 and 3 are my most popular methods.

Explain Cyberhair® is greater detail.

  • MOST COLORFAST- Laboratory Xenon Tests confirm that Cyberhair® has a higher level of fade resistance than other alternatives.
  • LIGHTNESS IN WEIGHT- Tests prove that Cyberhair® is more than 10% lighter than other hair. In fact, Cyberhair® is 18% lighter than Polyester synthetic fiber, 11% lighter than Modacrylic synthetic fiber and 14% lighter than processed human hair. The lighter the hair, the more comfort for you.
  • MOISTURE CONTENT- Because of the high content of moisture in Cyberhair®, when wet or dry, the hair feels and responds like healthy human hair. This high moisture content also helps eliminate frizzing.
  • CURL RETENTION- Cyberhair® has “style memory.” This allows for hot showers and hair dryers to be used on Cyberhair® without losing its style.
  • DURABILITY- Strength tests show that Cyberhair® ranks the highest against other fibers, including human hair. Cyberhair® has twice the durability of processed human hair. This means Cyberhair® can withstand more stress.

Will Cyberhair® work for chemotheropy patients who will have very thin hair?

Yes it will. First you must purchase the Hair Support kit and vitamins to get your hair back into shape. As mentioned above, this is the only hair extension brand that is made specifically for THIN, DAMAGED, WEAK HAIR!

About how long does it take to do a full head of hair extensions?

It depends on the stylist and the method.

  • Normally 2 hours for weaves.
  • 4-6 hours reusable strands.
  • 8-12 hours for Great Lengths.

Does the most expensive hair look the most natural?

Ok, first of all it is not the method that makes the hair extension look natural. I can make any hair extension look natural regardless of if the hair I use is inexpensive or the most expensive. It will all look natural. I was trained in hair replacement so I am very experienced on how to give you the right cut. It is all in the cutting skills of your technician. You don't have to spend a fortune to get the same results with my famous cut-to-blend technique! I can certainly tell a good hair extension job as opposed to an amazing hair extension job. It is all in the hair cut, the blending, the debulking, the twist texturizing, etc. Have you noticed other websites' before and after hair extension jobs with the hair cut looking like a “curtain” or looking pin straight without any character? Or the hair just removed from a ponytail? That is a bad hair extension job or a bad before picture, in my opinion. For my services, I wash your hair thoroughly with a professional SPA massage before any installation. When I cut your hair, I spin you in my hydraulic chair 360 degrees so you can see the cut from every angle. I finish and style your hair the way you want it! I will never unprofessionally send you to the next door salon to complete your expensive transformation. You will leave my salon completely photogenic!

What are the most expensive hair extensions in the world?

  • Great Lengths Human Hair Extensions
  • Cyberhair

Accept NO IMITATIONS. They are hands down the best of the best of the best.  Their hair and product is always the same and consistent. I never need to return them. I never have any problems. The only problems involve the maintenance habits.

My hair extensions are ripping out my hair.

How have you maintained them?  Did you care for them as advised by your hairdresser? Did you leave it on for more than 8 weeks at a time? If you maintained them very well, you should have zero problems. If this is the case, your own hair may be the problem. You would need a hair extension that attaches to both the hair and the scalp.

Why are there so many different prices of human hair?

Human hair is not all the same. Let's say, you have several friends and some of them have the hair you want, but some of them have hair you wouldn't consider having. I buy my hair from either hair companies or breeders whose business is strictly caring, feeding, growing and selling their 100% virgin raw healthy hair. Oftentimes this type of hair may take a while to get so that is why hair oftentimes needs to be 'de-virginize' to match the color and texture you desire.

What's the best for human hair?

Everyone has their own opinions of the term "best." I will tell you that the most desirable in the world is 100% raw virgin human hair. It's like buying the purest of pure diamond in the world. This hair is valuable, mostly costly and often times very difficult to find. Don't expect to pay peanuts. One who has taken great care of her hair won't sell it for the cost of hair you can easily buy. In 100% raw virgin human hair, the hair is so healthy, beautiful, youthful and thick. Every single strand is even in color and even in texture. You can tell by the way it feels and the shine it gives, like a child's hair. The majority of my clients who are excellent candidates for raw virgin hair are usually kids because the majority of adults dye their hair and therefore it is no longer in its virgin state.

I cannot tell the difference between all types of human hair.

If you take a cross section of human hair, each ethnic type will have a different appearance. Japanese hair is round in shape and is the largest in diameter, straight in curl pattern and black in color. Chinese hair is round in shape, smaller in diameter than Japanese hair, straight in curl pattern and black in color. The Japanese and Chinese hair is seldom used in the U.S. manufacturing of high-end women's' hairpieces. This hair is more suitable to shorter styles for men and women and in lower end hairpieces. The exception is for the Chinese or Japanese wearer in which case it is ideal. Indian hair is round oval in shape, smaller in diameter than Chinese (the most like Caucasian), straight in curl pattern and black or black/brown in color. Indian is most often used in U.S. hair replacement, as it is the closest to the Caucasian texture. Caucasian hair is oval in shape, with varied diameters, varied curl patterns and varied colors. Caucasian hair is not often used because of its lack of availability and the price. African American hair is flat or ribbon is shape, fine and silky in texture (the opposite of what one might think) with varied curl patterns and black to black/brown in color. African American hair is never used because of its short length and tight curl pattern. It is necessary to blend several other textures or chemically processed Indian hair to replicate the texture of African American hair.

I hear European hair is the best hair.

A colleague of mine who owns a hair extension salon in Europe, says that women out there say that hair made in the USA is actually better. It seems that the grass is always greener on the other side. European hair is very fine and colors are often dark to light brown to blond. This hair, because it is very fine, is unsuitable for chemical processing. This hair is best if used only for virgin custom wigs. The majority of ponytails I get are of medium to dark color and very thick; so a fine textured light colored ponytail is very rare. Also, very few European women will cut off, and sell their hair. The U.S. sells many hair extensions so we buy hair mostly from Asia. Indian hair is closest to Caucasian and also come in Ethnic textures. It is also very easy to get, and in a true virgin state, because Indian culture is much more simple than American or European beauty culture. Indian hair is much stronger and can withstand chemical processes. If you are a licensed hair dresser and expert colorist, you understand that stronger darker virgin hair can go through numerous perms, dyes, and other chemical services without frying. Fine textured, light colored hair can fry easily. Many times, the term “European hair” is really “Indian hair” that is made in Europe.

What is the difference between processed and unprocessed human hair?

The term “Processed Hair” is used to describe human hair which has had one or more chemical processes done in an attempt to change its outward appearance. Most of the processed hair which is used in the manufacturing of hairpieces is of Indian, Indonesian or Chinese origin because of its availability and affordable cost. This hair, which is naturally black, coarse, and straight must be chemically processed in order to achieve the appearance of natural unprocessed hair. It is first lifted of color (bleached); then color is deposited (dyed); then permanently curled (permed) and finally stripped of its outside cuticle layer (de-cuticalized).

Unprocessed human hair (also known as virgin hair) is the finest quality hair available because it requires no chemical processing. This hair is gathered in the form of ponytails which are blended and matched according to color, length, texture and curl pattern. It takes up to 12 unprocessed ponytails to manufacture one hairpiece. This quality hair is not only the finest but also the most expensive, and has a much longer life expectancy. This quality hair is carefully blended without disturbing the cuticle direction, resulting in tangle free styling. Less frequent repairs and chemical processes are needed because the cuticle is the outside coating and protects the hair shaft.

Some companies color their hair the same way cashmere fabric is colored. This process keeps the cuticle intact and the now colored black hair remains virgin. This is how Great Length Human Hair Extensions are made.

I'm growing my hair back from trichotillomania, how long do the new hairs have to be to be able to use hair extensions?

The best length is 4 inches. Because you will have hair that will be long enough to bend over and cover the hair extensions.

Hello, I life in San Francisco but interested in your lightweight extensions. Do you have any places out here that does them?

Hi! We now have a partner salon in San Jose starting April 11 2017! Please contact TheSecretMane@Gmail.com for the connection.

Why is my natural hair shorter than when I started using hair extensions?

I don't know why.  All of my hair extension clients' hair grew.  I also do hairloss and some of my clients' hair couldn't grow because of genetics, Alopecia or meds they took that inhibit hair growth.  If your natural hair doesn't grow, talk with a Trichologist.  S/he will figure out the reason why.
