Artificial hair integrations, more commonly known as hair extensions, add length and/or fullness to human hair.
Hair extensions are methods of lengthening one's hair by incorporating artificial hair or natural hair collected from other individuals. Hair extensions can also be used to protect one's natural hair. These hair techniques are advanced and are used to change the hair drastically without looking unrealistic. ~Wiki
What types of Hair Extensions are used today?
Wefted Hair- Hair is sewn onto a track made with braids or seamless tracks.
Taped Hair- Hair is taped onto 2 inches width hair. It is applied directly or sandwiched to make the hair extension last longer.
Bonded Hair- Floss to pencil width hair individually attached to similar width hair and secured together melting the bond.
Hair on a Skin-like material- Most suitable method for bald spots. Comes in small to large pieces which can be cut into "puzzles" to fill in the missing parts of the hair. Can be installed with clips for daily wear or glue for semi-permanent wear.
Hair using Metal, Micro Beads/Rings- Pencil width hair individually attached to similar width hair and secured together with a metal bead.
What are some ways to attach Hair Extensions using Metal Beads, Micro Links, Micro Rings?
I've checked out some installation methods online and discovered many stylists using the wrong installation method. Here are a couple ones that I've seen on many customers.
Example 1 is the wrong way because the "i-tip" hair strand is not evenly covered by the metal ring. Overtime, the bond that holds the hair together will break down. In addition, the ring appears to be very thick that it doesn't even match up the density of the hair strand, resulting in a "fat installation" feel. If you can see close up, the density of the width of the metal does not match the density and width of the hair strand. Thus, this photo is the wrong way to install this method.
The metal is photo #2 is close to perfection but not quite. The metal appears to be completely flattened which overtime, cause hair slippage and breakage. In addition, the parting of the strand is much too thin. If you compare the density of the top parting versus the density of the bottom hair extension, you can see how thin the top is compared to the bottom. The top parting was also linear parted versus square parted which overtime may result in hair breakage. Lastly, the metal is the wrong type of metal. It doesn't have a funnel on the top for easy removal and it appears to be a hard type of metal rather than the one that should be used for this method.
As a hair, health, growth expert, I've seen so much damages from poor hair extension installations. Here is the correct and proper way to install these types of hair extensions. In addition, the metal shells should be the right ones to get. There are many types of rings, beads and shells offered to just about anyone to purchase, but the ones sold to professionals are the ones to buy.

When attached correctly, these hair extensions will remain as secure as if they were glued onto your own hair. When removed gently, there should be no breakage to the natural hair.

Turn the "V" shape metal on its side, and squeeze firmly folding the "V" into a "book".
Gently insert the remover tool inside the closed "book".
